Breakfast Club

Wreaths
In preparation for the holidays, Jessa and I set out on a mission to make new wreaths.  Jessa settled on a red and gold color pallet and my wreath was silver and blue. Just like the fall wreath I posted, these are really easy to make. Simply grab a glue gun (preferably with with correct size glue sticks - yesss they make different sizes...who knew?!) and get to work.

The following weekend we had the pleasure to host Miss Kara for a visit. I hosted a dinner party at my house. Cooking is always a fun time at our place - complete with wine and Maya's giant bone.

The Menu:
Homemade pasta
Italian sausage vodka sauce
Salad
Wine
Brownies

80's Night

After the dinner party we headed to The Breakfast Club to dance the night away.

Yes we wore 80's clothing and yes my neck was sore the next day from too much hair whipping.

Autumn, the Year's Last, Loveliest Smile

November snuck up on me in a hurry - it seems strange that I've been living and working in North Carolina for five months. And I have been especially busy this month...but now I am here to fill ya'll (yea I said it) in.

Last Minute Guests
Lemont came for a last minute visit a few weekends ago. The weekend was fun and relaxing - we went to IKEA to get decorating ideas for both our apartments (he wanted to do this, I swear!). We also went to a local vineyard - the Treehouse Vineyard. We got a tour, a tasting, free etched wine glasses and a bottle of wine for $12 (gotta love Groupon). On our way home we stopped by the Cheesecake Factory for dessert!

You can see the vines in the background - they grow only muscadine grapes.

Dabble in Decor
I have also been busy furnishing and decorating my apartment. I even decided that I wanted to paint an accent wall in my living room. If you've never painted and think it sounds simple enough - I am here to tell you that it isn't. Think long and hard before deciding to take on a project like that. It took me 3 trips to Home Depot and 2 glasses of wine to finish my 1 wall. As long as you don't look too closely at the edges...it looks beautiful.

I found this beautiful bedspread at Marshall's Homegoods (great store for cheap decor and furniture). As fate would have it, the pattern is called Maya.

I love everything about this - the painting, the sofa, and  my favorite might be the antique coffee table.

Paint job and new chair.

My spoiled pup got her own bed a few weeks ago. Orvis is great if you have a puppy who loves to chew - this bed is a Tough Chew and they'll replace it if your dog manages to chew thru it.

Amazing Maize Maze
Last weekend I was lucky enough to have 2 visitors. My dad came down for work but got to stay a couple of extra days. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures but on Friday night we ate at 131 Main. If you go - you must try the corn bread and the banana cream pie. SO GOOD. On Saturday we spent the morning in Davidson - breakfast at Toast and walked around the farmers market.

Steff was also in town for the weekend. We went antiquing (she helped pick out the coffee table you saw) and on Sunday we went to a corn maze. It was a lot of fun - it took us over an hour to complete. You had to gather pieces of the map as you navigated your way thru the maze and the more pieces you had the easier it was to find your way out. We were a good team.

Linville Falls
Me, Mom & Maya went hiking at Linville Gorge this weekend. It is one of the prettiest places I've been.  Pictures may do it more justice than me trying to describe it.
